Why a Northeast Campus
The Northeast Campus of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary offers seminary training on both the associates and masters level to those whom God has called in the Northeast to prepare for ministry. This campus enables those God is calling in the Northeast to stay in their communities and be trained alongside the very people they will spend their lives serving. Additionally, the Northeast Campus also exists to train those who may not be from the Northeast but who have a passion for the Northeastern United States, one of the least evangelized regions of the country. Thus, it is our prayer that men and women from across the country will be called to the Northeast Campus for seminary training and that they will ultimately plant their lives in the Northeast. idea and vision to expand seminary training from our main campus in Cordova, Tennessee to the Northeast began with God moving on the heart of our founding president, Dr. B. Gray Allison. He began laying the groundwork for the campus in the early 1980s and coordinating with the New York Board of Regents. The Northeast Campus began offering seminary classes in 1987 with three professors and six students at the Trinity Baptist Church campus in Niskayuna, New York. A donor and friend of Dr. Allison provided $500,000 to help fund professor salaries and build a 15,000 square foot campus. Construction was completed in 1989.
Though academic excellence is a core value of the Northeast Campus, we ultimately think of our impact in terms of changed lives. Our goal at the Northeast Campus is to instill a passion for evangelism and missions into each student. Since our beginning in 1987, our students have shared the Gospel with thousands of northeasterners winning 4,832 to Christ. Students have participated in 432 hours of practical missions this past year, representing countless lives influenced for the Kingdom.
When we began in 1987, there were three Baptist churches in our local Hudson Baptist Association. Now there are twenty-nine with half of those being pastored by our alumni. Why a Northeast Campus? Because we are training men and woman to share the light of Christ while they serve their community and church. Come join us and be transformed by all that God does here to equip those He calls and sends to us.
