Friends of the seminary can make safe, easy & fast online contributions today!
Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary began in 1972 in rented church property with four faculty members and twenty-eight students. Our efforts to train laborers in the Northeast began in 1987. Dr. Gray Allison, our founding president, wanted to make seminary education as affordable as possible for both so graduates would not be weighed down with excessive debt from student loans. From the beginning, Dr. Allison asked friends and churches to consider investing in men of God who were studying to lead churches and training to take the gospel to all the world. That message resonated among our friends, alumni, and churches and they began to give. Since 1972, our friends and supporters have provided up to sixty percent of our annual operating needs through their gifts.
These gifts enable us to keep tuition low--one of the lowest among Southern Baptist seminaries. People often ask, “How can you operate that way? Don't you need a more guaranteed source of income?” There is no greater guarantee than the sufficiency and faithfulness of God! By trusting God for so much of our budget needs every day, Mid-America is a living testimony to God’s faithfulness and to the blessings available to those who will simply trust His provision. Additionally, we believe that there is no greater investment than a gift given to expand the kingdom of God.
Because our focus is on training men of God in the Bible, evangelism and cross-cultural ministry, our students lead over 1,000 people to Christ each year. Our graduates are serving in forty-nine states and sixty-three foreign countries preaching the gospel, planting churches, and serving the risen Christ. For more information, contact Mr. Ray Helton, 901-751-3077. God has provided miraculously over these many years. Our prayer is still our motto, " . . .that in all things He might have the preeminence."
