Dr. Alan Bandy Receives OBU's Promising Teacher Award

Mid-America alumnus Dr. Alan S. Bandy, Rowena R. Strickland Assistant Professor of New Testament at Oklahoma Baptist University, received OBU’s Promising Teacher Award during the university’s Spring Commencement May 11.

Bandy, who joined the OBU faculty in fall 2009, received the award from OBU President David W. Whitlock during the graduation ceremonies before an overflow audience of more than 1,800 in the university’s Raley Chapel.

As the Fall, 2011 semester ends, I’m excited to have played a small yet significant part of three young men’s lives who signed up for the new church planting class, Methods for North American Church Planting. As the instructor for the class and the church planting leader for Southern Baptists in the region, I’m encouraged about this renewed focus on evangelistic church planting. Each of the men who participated heard from world-class church planting practitioners from around the northeastern US and eastern Canada.
